BIOGRAPHY

  • ​​Mª Ángeles Jaén Morcillo is a Spanish organist born in Albacete. She is a Graduate in Translation and Interpreting from the University of Alicante, where she obtained 21 Mentions with Honours. She achieved an Award with Special Distinction in her University studies ​as well as an Honourable Mention at a National Level. She has the "Grado de Licenciatura" with Distinction Unanimously. She held a Research Award of the Spanish Department of Education and Science for the Doctoral Thesis, having already presented her PhD Dissertation. She also has the Advanced Certificates with Distinction in English, French, Arabic and Italian of the Spanish Official School of Languages, and her interest in languages leads her to continue with German, Modern Greek and Valencian.
  • She is a Professional Graduate in Organ with Distinction in every subject from the “Conservatorio Profesional de Música Guitarrista José Tomás” of Alicante. In the same way, it can be pointed out that she has been awarded "Professional Honourable Mention" by the Department of Education of the Autonomous Community of Valencia.
  • She has participated in many improvement courses and master classes with specialists of different Organ schools, such as Montserrat Torrent, Vicent Ros, José Luis González Uriol, Lucía Riaño, Jesús Ángel de la Lama, Christian Mouyen, Hans Fagius, François Espinasse, etc.
  • Specialized as a concert soloist organist, she has played numerous organ concerts as a soloist in different organs, inaugurations and festivals, both in a great part of Spain and abroad: in different European capital cities as London (in the oldest pipe organ in use in the United Kingdom), Athens (Greece), Oslo (Norway), Poland (International Organ Festival 2012), and lots of Organ Festivals in important and historical baroque organs of many regions of Spain such as Valencia, Alicante, Albacete, Ciudad Real, Cuenca, Segovia, Valladolid, Huelva… She has also participated in organ concerts as an accompanist in Spain and abroad with important music ensembles, as the Baroque Ensemble of the Symphony Orchestra of Athens.
  • She has collaborated as an interpreter in the Annual Congress of the European Association of Conservatoires. Likewise, she holds an organist post in Spain and she belongs to the Schola Cantorum of Albacete, with which she has performed, among other pieces, The Requiem and the Coronation Mass by Mozart and offered concerts in Prague (Czech Republic) and Germany.
 
  • In her organ soloist concerts schedule for the year 2013, it can be pointed out that she has been invited to play in London, in the oldest pipe organ in use in England, as well as in the "World Organ Day" on the occasion of the 850th Anniversary of the construction of the Cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris, and in the "International Homage to the Spanish baroque composer Padre Antonio Soler" in the 230th Anniversary of his death.

 

  • At present, she works as a Teacher at the University and broaden her organ training at the “Conservatorio Superior de Música Joaquín Rodrigo” of Valencia, where she has obtained "Mention with Honours in Organ", the highest grade. In addition to that, she continues her concert and didactic activity in organ music as well as the preparation of different organ recordings and her interest in the research and revival of early organ music from archives.
